Treatment Services
Our program provides individual counseling, group therapy, extensive education, appropriate family treatment, 12 step meetings, and the facilitation of aftercare. We focus on all aspects of recovery involving body, mind and spirit, each of which is equally beneficial to leading an abundant life. We encourage exercise (such as workouts in the gym, along with many other outdoor activities) which will help calm your mind and emotions, all in the peace and serenity of a mountain setting.
Clients spend their days at Serenity Lodge getting to know about their addiction and discovering the person they would like to become. Listening to others share about their experiences in a confidential setting creates trust and camaraderie among the clients. Our goal is to educate you on your addiction, help you become comfortable in your own skin, and provide you with the tools you'll need to achieve a new way of living.
Individual Counseling Sessions
Clients are matched with a counselor and together they get down to the underlying causes to the clients' addiction, form a treatment plan and adhere to that plan, with weekly updates between counselor and client in a respectful, caring and loving way.
Dual Diagnosis
We provide treatment for clients suffering from a combination of alcohol and/or substance abuse and a co-occurring emotional or psychiatric illness. This treatment includes individual cognitive therapy with medical management for those requiring psychotropic medication. We have both a psychologist and psychiatrist on staff.
Education Groups
In these groups, clients are taught the origin of addiction, in addition to the physical, emotional and psychological consequences of their actions. Topics range from the disease concept to stress management and adopting new coping skills without alcohol or drugs, all in an intimate setting where participation is encouraged.
Process Groups
This is an open forum where clients share about their addiction and are provided feedback by their peers without being judged. Getting down to root causes - uncovering, discovering and discarding - promotes camaraderie and trust.
Family Groups
We have family group sessions once per month (with family visitation every Sunday). We feel it is essential to involve family members in the treatment and recovery process; this is a family disease and thus requires a family recovery. In addition, we communicate with family members on a weekly basis to update them on the client's progress.
Relapse Prevention
We utilize the Gorski Model of identification and management of warning signs. Relapse is a process and not the actual event, so we get down to the root causes of signs that precede a relapse.
Aftercare
We have an extensive discharge plan and provide follow-up by our continuing care staff. Clients are always welcome back to Serenity Lodge for meetings.
"There are two primary choices in life; to accept
conditions as they exist, or to accept the
responsibility for changing them."
